MEET NICOLE WILLETT, EDUCATION DIRECTOR

nicole (2)Nicole serves as Education Director for the Mars Society, working to improve the organization’s educational outreach for the human exploration and settlement of the planet Mars.

Nicole is an Astronomy and AP Environmental Science teacher at Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia, USA.  She received her degree in Biology with a concentration in Astronomy and Astrobiology from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah. Nicole is a member of the Tau Chi Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society.  She is also an experienced member of the Speakers Bureau reaching out to promote educational awareness in Astronomy and Mars related subjects and research.

Other notable volunteer work included working with Dr. James Nienow at Valdosta State University in collaboration with Dr. Chris McKay, NASA Ames, on micrometeorology of hypoliths (extremophiles).

Nicole has been studying Mars since she was a teenager, when she read the December 1988 issue of National Geographic Magazine’s article, Mission to Mars. Since then, she has been hooked. Nicole is married to Doug Willett and they have two teenage sons, Jeremiah and Isaiah.

MEET CHUCK MCMURRAY, DEPUTY EDUCATION DIRECTOR

chuckChuck serves as the Deputy Education Director for the Mars Society, and operates various outreach efforts of the organizaton.  Since March of 2013, Chuck has been hosting various educational events around Chicago, Minneapolis and St. Louis as one of the very active members of the TMS Speakers Bureau. Chuck is also the lead web designer for the education website.

Chuck graduated with honors from Columbia College in Chicago, earning a bachelors in Television production, editing, and screen writing. Chuck is a full-time business intelligence, analytics and technology consultant, while moonlighting as a public speaker and fiction writer. He is currently completing a “document-fiction” genre novel about the first human exploration mission to Mars.
